THE JAZZ NETWORK INTERNATIONAL ARTIST FEATURE ~ JULIO FOWLER

JULIO FOWLER Utopias’ tour 09/10 Spain-based Cuban artist Julio Fowler, as heir to the Vieja y Nueva Trova (old & New Cuban song), expands and diversifies the horizons of classic Cuban sounds. He belong to that wave of Cuban singer songwriter known as “Topo's generation” because of it’s underground status. His music is a mixture of original identity & vanguard, an assembly of his roots with all those musical trends compatible with it. Julio Fowler is a musical alchemist whose own special blend of magic comes from his knack for combining the popular and traditional elements of “Cuban Music” with sounds and rhythms from other cultures such as flamenco, jazz, funk or Bossa nova. From this melting pot of influences he has brought into existence a highly refreshing and original set of melodies, rhythms and timbres. Your sound could be considered "musical fusion" of the highest order as his lack of musical inhibitions allows him to move effortlessly from guaguancó to boleros as he flirts openly with bulería while at the same time showing his overt passion for jazz in a surprising mix of acoustic and electronic. If you are interested in presenting Julio Fowler in concert, please feel free to send us your proposal. CONTACT: Booking & Management Maria Sanchez maria@mariasanchez.es

Hello! My recently released CD is an example of the multi-language singing I enjoy. It is being enjoyed in radio stations in the states, Europe, Argentina, Brazil, and Australia and has had positive radio and press reviews. Let's help each other! I'll pass the word on about your station! mary talbot fee

Looking for new collaborations here in Europe. I am based in Italy and already have a jazz group that I am part of. However, I am available to work and begin other collaborations such as featurings, concerts and guest appearance. Looking to branch out in Europe and other parts of the globe. Please feel free to contact me via Skype at wonderland64 or via e-mail at jyuille@gmail.com. And of course here on this fabulous networking site. Thanks! Peace and blessings.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Sarah Vaughan: A New Box Set Revels In Glorious Imperfections

Divine: The Jazz Albums, 1954-1958 packs four CDs with Vaughan's music, recorded live or in the studio with bands big and small. Two live albums from Chicago nightclubs are standouts, partly when a performance threatens to slide off the rails.

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.

Grady Tate On Piano Jazz

Grady Tate began his jazz career as a much-celebrated drummer, backing such icons as Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Tate has since traded in his skins for a microphone at center stage, where he delivers smooth and soulful baritone vocals. With pianist John di Martino, Tate sings "Everybody Loves My Baby" and "Where Do You Start."

Woody Herman At 100: 'A Blues Player From His Heart'

He was a soulful reedman, an amazing talent scout for decades and a bandleader of one of the country's most popular acts. Born in 1913, Herman led "Thundering Herds" that were both big draws and well-respected by the likes of Igor Stravinsky. Here are five recordings which still sound fresh today.

Edmar Castañeda And Friends On JazzSet

Hear passionate improvisation across borders on Colombian harp, Argentinian bandoneón, Venezuelan cuatro and vibes from the U.S. In a set with Castañeda, his trio and special guests perform at the Americas Society in New York.
