Budding stars that would leap at the opportunity to make it in the “American Idol” world now have their chance. Beginning Friday, Oct 23rd The Church at Rancho Bernardo will host wMw Academy of Vocal Flight’s first program for professional and amateur singers. Professional singers hailing from Los Angeles to South Africa will offer instruction to hundreds of singing hopefuls at an intensive “For Singers Only” workshop. Aspiring vocalists interested in enrolling in the three-day course should register now because the highly coveted spaces are limited.

Classes will focus on strengthening vocal technique, improving live performance, cultivating and navigating the music industry, and will conclude with a concert featuring some of the students and well-known professionals.

Dorian Holley, Associate Music Director and Vocal Coach of American Idol, who had been slated for Michael Jackson’s monumental “This Is It” tour as vocal director, will conduct an audition-specific class. He will share his winning secrets and insider knowledge for executing successful auditions, along with sharing his success story and some fascinating memories from performing and touring for all of Michael Jackson’s solo albums. Jazz greats Kevyn Lettau of the LA Music Academy, Peter Sprague, and Amber and Rob Whitlock will guide the attendees through intensive technique and performance coaching. R&B star Jim Gilstrap will be on board to share his insights on cultivating and sustaining longevity in the business. And yes, a little bit of country and a little bit of rock and roll will round out the mix. Rising country star Danielle Tucker, rapidly emerging pop-rock sensation Esjay Jones, and long-time rocker and vocal coach Karen Williams will guide students through marketing and breaking through as an independent artist.

Education in music has to go way beyond just learning the craft of playing, arranging, composing.I've learned so much in 35 years in this business
I have developed a series of seminars and lectures based on my experience and knowledge of the last 35 years.I have done classes at Berklee,Manhatten School of music, Ithaca College. I want to spread this out to other schools. If you are an educator at a school please consider me for a guest lecturer to do a class or seminar.I cover so much ground. From playing to production to how to make this a real career. It's hard, very hard. I know I've helped many young people move forward
My credentials are on my website and I have a resume available
You can contact me through the Jazznetwork as well
Peace, jason

I'm pleased to join this Jazz Educators group.

I taught guitar for 25 years at Berklee College of Music. I currently teach and perform in New England.

I'd like to let jazz educators in this group know that I have a free guitar lesson materials available on my web site,
FrogstoryRecords.com
and would ask that they make their students aware of this resource.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.

Grady Tate On Piano Jazz

Grady Tate began his jazz career as a much-celebrated drummer, backing such icons as Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Tate has since traded in his skins for a microphone at center stage, where he delivers smooth and soulful baritone vocals. With pianist John di Martino, Tate sings "Everybody Loves My Baby" and "Where Do You Start."

Woody Herman At 100: 'A Blues Player From His Heart'

He was a soulful reedman, an amazing talent scout for decades and a bandleader of one of the country's most popular acts. Born in 1913, Herman led "Thundering Herds" that were both big draws and well-respected by the likes of Igor Stravinsky. Here are five recordings which still sound fresh today.

Edmar Castañeda And Friends On JazzSet

Hear passionate improvisation across borders on Colombian harp, Argentinian bandoneón, Venezuelan cuatro and vibes from the U.S. In a set with Castañeda, his trio and special guests perform at the Americas Society in New York.

Miguel Zenón Quartet: Live At The Village Vanguard

Ever since he started becoming one of the best alto saxophone players in the world, Zenón has drawn from his upbringing in Puerto Rico. But, like many Puerto Ricans, Zenón lives in New York — where his quartet of 10 years has finally been invited to play the Vanguard. It presents new music in concert.
