Featured this week on The Jazz Network Worldwide: Multi-instrumentalist Walter Chancellor with his new single “Paradise”.

Professional saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, educator, arranger, mentor and music producer, Walter Chancellor releases his new single “Paradise” to a worldwide audience.

Walter Chancellor is not only a multi-instrumentalist, he is a legendary mainstay in the Twin Cities Contemporary Jazz and R&B music scene. The evolution of his new single “Paradise” was graced with the expertise and agile production skills of his friends and musical colleagues Chris "Big Dog" Davis (on Production & Keys and two time grammy nominee) and Sonny T. of Prince's New Power Generation (NPG) (on Guitar).

Chancellor is no stranger to working with the top in his field. He has performed and recorded with various national and local acts such as Prince, where he received platinum record status for his musicianship on Prince’s “Emancipation” CD.  Walter has performed and recorded with Chaka Khan, Bobby Lyle, Maceo Parker, Candy Dulfer, Musiq Soulchild, Larry Graham, The Louis Johnson, Cameo, The Pointer Sisters, The Platters, Producer Jack Douglas and esteemed record producer Andre Fischer.

“Walter is a wellspring of inspiration to not only his collective audiences but to those up-and-comers that want to be immersed in the mechanics of todays technology platforms, yet receive the organic know-how of bringing the human element to one’s musical ears. “Paradise” is a good title for his new single for its a state of mind he lives in” says Jaijai Jackson of the Jazz Network Worldwide.

In addition to his musical performance achievements, he is known for being an innovator of today’s technology models that support all areas of music production.  Walter’s diverse background includes extensive experience in Audio and MIDI production & composition. For the past decade he has been teaching Midi, Audio/Video Post-Production at the Institute of Production and Recording (IPR) in downtown Minneapolis and is proud to have contributed to the successful careers of many IPR Alumni whom he personally taught and mentored. Another illuminating feat is that he was a founding member of the Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project, an after school program that was designed to expose adults and children to jazz culture, technology and the history of our great American art form, JAZZ!

Music education run’s close to his heart, having been instrumental in the launch of an after school program called “IDEAWERKS”, by which he taught, wrote and created a curriculum for the after school and summer programs at Powderhorn & East Phillips Parks in Minneapolis, MN aimed towards 12-18 year old students.

Through his own production company “Chancellor Music”, Walter provides music production, songwriting and session work for local & national artists as well as film scores, radio and television advertising, corporate presentations and other private entities.

Even with such a busy schedule, Walter seeks to please his fans by pursuing bookings on worldwide jazz festival stages where he can showcase the center of his heart, sharing his artistry that comes so naturally to his next breath.  A radio campaign is currently in play and looks forward not only to airplay of his new single “Paradise”, but the chance to have interviews that will inspire and motivate jazz listeners worldwide.
