After hearing from some practitioners that there was a gap between what got dumped outright and what ended-up being releasing formally, I thought I'd start-up podcast that catered to the tracks that fall in-between. jazzYard exists as a vehicle for unreleased or unpublished jazz instrumental recordings. Up-and-coming artists, veterans, and everyone in between are welcome to submit unreleased recordings of their work.

Whether you're building a set or getting otherwise languishing tracks into the light of day, jazzYard is here to provide a 'behind the scenes point of discussion and departure'.

It features:

INTERVIEW - I'm feeling privileged to have Michael DeMaria, whose latest CD ("Ocean") was reviewed in issue #96, as our interviewee for this issue. This is one of the deepest and revealing interviews we have ever published... after you read it, be sure to spread the word to lots of other folks about it, please!

Evermore exciting MUSIC reviews (over 20 splendid new reviews - there's even a review of underground/indie stalwart Dan Susnara's brand-new 2-CD set)

In Issue # 98 (& later):
More fine interviews (jazz legend Mike Longo is up next) & music reviews with today's energy "shakers & movers"

Here is the latest (solo) release from artist D*** Metcalf. It's titled "AC, not PC" (for Alphabetically Correct, not Politically Correct"). I also do a fair amount of spoken-word on this one... all original material:

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
