NEW STUDIO OPEN AND BOOKED..SPECIALIZING IN ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC JAZZ AND ROCK
Comment by Gene Weed on January 4, 2010 at 8:21am
L. 'Gene' Weed is the inventor of the "Modified Mid - Side Recording System. Based on the forgotten (up to that time) Blumlein principles, his ground breaking research in 1977 on acoustic holographic imaging gave producers world wide a chance to develop it further. It went on to inspire Quadraphonic sound and Dolby surround, and is now used in all major film and sound studios world wide. Today, thousands of recordings exist due in part this ground breaking re-invention. The original article is available as a reprint on STUDIO 57A bookstore http://www.lulu.com/Studio57a

Also check out his book "ON AIR", in which much expanded recording information technology using this technique is revealed for the first time.

Gene Weed continues his development in the recording arts and sciences by sponsoring and encouraging new talent and new microphone designs in his Arizona Laboratory.

. . . I ran my own personally crafted 16K rig in Concert Sound Hire across the Southern African sub continent for ten years, those were such times, being on those open roads in those wide open places, between set up and strike and set up, for the next of a series of back to back, 12 hour, stadium gigs, the pounding rhythms going way through the night under the African stars and then the fatigue with the approaching chill of dawn, being careful not to fall off the front of house tower . . .. It was bulky, big, hands on, manual, physical, labour intensive, sweaty, proprietor did it all, transport, staging, security, liaising, 3 phase - the mix at the end was the proverbial cherry at the last - we worked with some great musos, Brenda, Sankomota, Bayete, Sakhile, Letta . . .. Hey now, northern hemisphere zero degrees in iddy biddy spaces, all packed into the little digital box, the virtual sliders, automation . . . the big installation is still the High, but the composer / musician calling has got this SoundSmith busy at his own screen at the moment, bouncing mp3's . . ..

Proficient at sound design, yes - my team works all forms and genres - available to be called upon; taking the product from studio to live installation application - my true buzz.

Greetings!

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
