Profile Information

Where are you located?
Pasadena, Ca.
What is your affiliation to the Jazz World?
Musical Artist, Producer, Vocalist, Manager, Consultant, Promoter, Record Label, Publisher, Arranger, Composer, Recording Studio, Fan
Tell us a little about your background...
Born in Newark, NJ && raised in East Orange NJ
Decided many moons ago to uproot myself from everything I've ever known...& pursue a career in the "Music Industry". So far so good!

I've been fortunate & very blessed to work with one of my "TOP" musical hero's. "Leon F. Sylvers,lll." I've either sung backround vocals or performed keyboards on approx: 30 songs that Leon produced. In case U don't recognize his name...Leon Sylvers brought to the music world..."Shalamar's" "Take That To The Bank, Second Time Around,Make That Move,This Is For The Lover In You,A Night To Remember, & Dead Giveaway" just to name a few! Also the "Whispers..."And The Beat Goes On, It's A Love Thang,I Can Make It Better,In The Raw,Just Keep On Lovin' Me, Etc! In fact Leon has Produced a host of artists: "Gladys Knight & The Pips,Joyce Kennedy,Tavares,Real 2 Reel, Bros Johnson,Glenn Jones,The Spinners!

After movin' on from Leon's camp I worked briefly at "Hitsville"{Motown's West Coast Recording facility}. There I worked closely with my mentor then..."The Great Norman Whitfield". If any of U reading this are not aware of his body of work...rather than me list his works...I suggest instead U "Google" him! {LOL}
While at Motown's recording home..."Hitsville"...I worked with a host of very talented musicians & vocalists like..."Sherrick" {R.I.P.},Tony Lamanns{R.I.P.},Howie Rice,CoCo Pop,Rockwell,Denzil Foster. The gentleman that supervised this program, were..."Benny Medina, Kerry Gordy, & Norman Whitfield,Jr."

Next up..."Stevie Wonder". He launched a Music Production facility designed to groom up & coming producers/writers. This facility was called..."Writer's Quarters West". After me being in this program for only 6 months, I was appointed it's "Creative Director" I did this for three years. I personally got to mingle & roll up my sleeves with a NU band Stevie put together called: "MYX". These are just some of the heavy weights that kicked it in that unit. "The Sembello Bros. {Michael & Danny}, Bruce Hawes-{One of my "All Time" favorite Songwriters-The Spinners}..drummer Donnell Spencer, Bassist: Merlin Owens.

Soon after this experience, I began doing the "Real Work". Firstly hooking up with power house producer..."Howie Rice" we got together & composed a smash hit for "Gladys Knight's" "Good Woman" album for MCA records. We also had the distinct pleasure of collab'n with explosive R&B/Jazz vocalist: "Ronee Martin". George Duke came onboard with us...N' laid a wicked "Acoustic Piano" solo on this song...whew! It was thru the "Sir George association that I met tons more creative souls.

From that point on I've been blessed to work with: "Regina Belle, George Duke,Billy Porter,Kenny Lattimore, Carol Duboc,Marian Marie,Ex-Girlfriend, Foreal,Shaya, Keplyn, Karen Briggs,The Sylvers, Hami,10db, Chronicles, EnVogue, Meshell N'degeocello,Norman Conners, Michelle Burks, Marva King, Diane Warren, Diana Lynn,Chante Moore,Eric Benet,Dre' Allen & that list keeps growing everyday! In fact, I hope to further connect the dots by possibly collaborating with any of U here on "The Jazz Network" in very near future!

In any event, I am thrilled to be here. I am anticipating the opportunity of meet'n & make'n new contacts & re-connecting with old friends & acquaintances!

I was nominated for a "Grammy" award.{Lost out to Raphael Saadiq...not too shabby huh?}
Just wrapped a movie score for a "Full Feature" scheduled for release some time in the fall or early 2009.

Currently, I'm in the studio developing projects for: "SHAYA, Robert Gee, Digital Soul Sonic{Dance Music}, Tha' Nu Klick! *Chronicles* && TyG.{Smooth Soul/ Jazz}N' an instrumental solo CD on myself. But I am always interested in whatever might be considered the: NEXT "NU THANG"...so, if any of U think U got something I might be interested in...hit a brutha' up....right here on the "Jazz Network Worldwide".

Peace=GOD=Bliss!

Hey Bobby,

I thought you'd be satisfied having the best player on that other network...but I see you've got the best ones over here too! How do you do it? You make it look like "a piece of cake"...but I assume that all the "GREAT ONES" do!

When your CD drops - I wanna buy the very first one!!!

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.

Grady Tate On Piano Jazz

Grady Tate began his jazz career as a much-celebrated drummer, backing such icons as Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Tate has since traded in his skins for a microphone at center stage, where he delivers smooth and soulful baritone vocals. With pianist John di Martino, Tate sings "Everybody Loves My Baby" and "Where Do You Start."

Woody Herman At 100: 'A Blues Player From His Heart'

He was a soulful reedman, an amazing talent scout for decades and a bandleader of one of the country's most popular acts. Born in 1913, Herman led "Thundering Herds" that were both big draws and well-respected by the likes of Igor Stravinsky. Here are five recordings which still sound fresh today.

Edmar Castañeda And Friends On JazzSet

Hear passionate improvisation across borders on Colombian harp, Argentinian bandoneón, Venezuelan cuatro and vibes from the U.S. In a set with Castañeda, his trio and special guests perform at the Americas Society in New York.

Miguel Zenón Quartet: Live At The Village Vanguard

Ever since he started becoming one of the best alto saxophone players in the world, Zenón has drawn from his upbringing in Puerto Rico. But, like many Puerto Ricans, Zenón lives in New York — where his quartet of 10 years has finally been invited to play the Vanguard. It presents new music in concert.
