- Charles Foldesh – Drums
A native of Prescott, Arizona (USA), Charles Foldesh began playing drums at age ten. Since then, he has obtained a long list of accomplishments. A recipient of the John Coltrane Scholarship, Charles received his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies and Performance from the renowned Oberlin Conservatory of Music, under the instruction of jazz legend Billy Hart.
Charles has toured the Eastern United States as well as parts of South America and Asia. He often performs with internationally recognized artists and has shared the stage with the likes of Marcus Belgrave, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gary Bartz, Claude Black, Joey DeFrancesco, George Benson, Jimmy Heath, Slide Hampton, John Clayton, Bryan Lynch, and Claudio Roditi. Charles has appeared at such festivals as the Texas International Jazz Festival, the Art Tatum Jazz Heritage Festival, the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Festival, the Detroit Jazz Festival, the Shanghai (JZ) International Jazz Festival (China), and the LaPataia International Jazz Festival (Uruguay).
Charles now resides in Shanghai, China. He is the house-band drummer for Asia’s number one English speaking night-time talk show, Asia Uncut (see www.Asiauncut.com). The show reaches over 200 million viewers in 59 countries. Guests on the show have included such celebrities as Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Wong Lee Hong, Tom Arnold, Edward Norton, Aaron Eckhart, Edison Chen, Lin Peng, Mandira Bedi, and Prachi Desai.
Having made frequent appearances at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, Charles had the pleasure of performing for such dignitaries as U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
Noted for his passionate swinging style, he makes regular appearances at such clubs as JZ, Cabaret (Bund 6), the House of Blues and Jazz, CJW, and Chinatown. Charles is often the drummer of choice for recordings and performances with musicians and singers from all over the world. In addition, he maintains a busy teaching schedule at the JZ School and the Western International School of Shanghai. Charles is featured nightly with the Theo Croker Sextet at the renowned Peace Hotel in Shanghai.
Charles endorses Bosphorus Cymbals and Gretsch Drums.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!
