Quantcast Dan has performed with Grammy-award winning jazz artists Ernie Watts and Mike Stern, Benny Golson, Charles Fambrough, Boyz to Men, The Fifth Dimension, Charles Fambrough, Gerald Veasley, Howard Levy (Bela Fleck), Ralph Bowen, John Swana, Allan Harris, Clint Holmes and James Brown drummer, Clyde Stubblefield and served as the musical director for the Philadelphia 76ers House Band.

Dan has written and recorded music for such clients as SONY Inc., PBS, Lifetime Network, and the Miss Black America Pageant, where he served as musical director. His film scores for "Fistful of Smoke", "Blues 4 Kafka", Bone Scratchings", and Offerings For Wallenberg" have garnered awards at prestigious independent film festivals nationally and abroad. He has scored several shows for a maverick community theater group called TOVA, which tackles social issues in the community using a "theater of witness" format. He scored "In Each Others Eyes" for the International Institute which was debuted at the Liberty Science Center and performed throughout the NYC metro area. Set against the backdrop of September 11th, this theater piece featured true stories of terrorism victims from many countries. His most recent TOVA project is "Beyond the Walls". Born out of concern for the number of Philadelphia's children who have recently died violent deaths, "Beyond the Walls" is a multi-media elegy and a call for peace. It paints a picture of the impact of violence on the lives of each performer while healing communities with dignity, courage, and hope. A documentary created from the show was featured at the 2007 Philadelphia Film Festival. Dan also composes for YES Theater (Youth Educating Society), a youth abuse prevention program based on theater arts.

He currently co-leads the well-known world jazz ensemble SIORA, whose sound is a non-traditional borderless mix of styles (jazz in 10 languages) with ample room for the improvisations of a wide array of talented musicians such as Howard Levy, Ralph Bowen, John Swana and Raphael Cruz. Dan is also
co-founder of Greenbridge CDC, a non-profit dedicated to using the arts to strengthen individuals and communities by easing the transition into sustainable living.

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!

Buster Williams
