SO THRILLED!!! I WON THE 2014 IMC BEST FEMALE JAZZ ARTIST AWARD. I met so many awesome and wonderful musicians many of whom I hope grow in friends!!

What a a great review of the new CD:

"Dena Taylor's soulful performances on her new album, The Nearness of You, recall the golden era of torch singing with a perfect measure of modern interpretation. Updated arrangements and clean production make these classic standards new again. I loved every note."

Nick Raposo, President, Raposo Asset Management, LLC

I was just named one of the Top Five Vocalists in the latest SingerUniverse "Best Vocalist Of The Month" Competition
The track they chose to consider for the competition was Besame Mucho from my newly released CD, The Nearness of You.

My Philosophy:
It's not enough for music
to BE good, it also has
to DO good!!

That's why a portion of any of my music sold through the DENA TAYLOR WEBSTORE is donated to the charities I support: Feeding America's Share A Meal, The Dog & Cat Cancer Fund (I lost my service dog, Sonny, to cancer!!) and several other charities pertaining to human and animal cancers!!

Tell us a little about your background...

Ask jazz vocalist, Dena Taylor, about being a "seasoned" musician and the relevancy of her music in an age of youth and she'll first respond with one of the brightest smiles you could imagine then she'll shake her head and will, most likely, respond that she hadn't counted on making it to 30 no less still making music. A jovial spirit with a contagious robust laugh is what you will find if you're fortunate enough to spend any time with her.

Taylor's road to success has been hard-won, even inspirational. Upon leaving the military, Taylor found herself in a violent car accident that left her with a severe brain injury requiring a full two years to regain her ability to speak and walk again. And, since that time, she has also waged her own personal battle against breast cancer.

Settling in Florida, she went on to establishing herself as a solid solo performer. Her pairings with some of the regions finest musicians resulted in her award winning CD, Round Midnight, made with Ron Teixeira, Ron Pirtle and Dave Dunscombe.

Now based in Austin Texas, she went to work on her second award winning CD, Certitude, which was released in March of 2010 and includes notables Grammy winner Redd Volkaert and Ernie Durawa. One of the tracks from this effort, Song for My Father, was rewarded with an IAIRA Certification of "International Top 100 Hit" shortly after its release.

When asked about the new standards CD, The Nearness of You, released February 14, 2014 a grin breaks across her face and she can barely contain her enthusiasm! Guest artists include Grammy winner Redd Volkaert, Rick McRae, Ernie Durawa, David Chao and others.

Dean, music is a God given gift, so remember that as you move forward. Many years ago I learned that lesson as I stepped away from the music I loved. Once I realized that I was meant to sing, I stepped back in, with positive thoughts (that's important) and I have not looked back since.
So, good luck on your music adventure.

Independent Review of Certitude for Rosana Caban

for MyMusicSuccess

Dena Taylor’s Certitude is 11 tracks of unpretentious, well-performed country inspired jazz. The songs are considered standards, but they emanate a rich southern flavor that isn’t often associated with a standard jazz tune. …

Review of CD, Round Midnight, by Max Maffia of Daybox Records

"Per commentare il disco di Dena Taylor devo necessariamente partire da una delle migliori interpretazioni di Round Midnight che io abbia mai sentito. Il brano cancella la sua forma contorta che nasce dall’esigenza armonica di Monk per arrivare ad ognuno di noi come un brano molto confortevole, piacevole “quasi pop” e che ti mette in pace con il mondo e con la vita. Esecuzione strumentale molto classica e piacevole e la voce si appoggia su tutti gli accordi con una classe ed un timbro che… Continue

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
