Tell us a little about your background...
I am an independent scholar and house-husband living in Pittsburgh. I write about the history of emergence as concept; about competing models of time and the ideological, aesthetic, social and political stakes of dominance and resistance; embodied and distributed cognition and the arts, particularly the architecture of Arakawa and Gins, and jazz performance; and about the agency of metaphor in trans-disciplinary inquiry. I also play jazz guitar, and have written numerous jazz compositions, and am beginning to perform again in the Pittsburgh area, a jazz town, rich and deep in history and talent.

A good place to start if you are interested in my research is:

Here is a 2006 NSF Conference website in honor of Peter Galison's Concept of "Trading Zones, " held at the ASU Center for Nanotechnology and Society, with samples of my published work:

I have had a sideline in Hypermedia, HCI and Interaction-Design. You can see a list of these publications at:
http://www.interaction-design.org/references/authors/martin_e__rose...
two of which have been translated (Spanish: https://www.ucm.es/info/especulo/numero8/landowte.htm)
and Portuguese: (http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0012/001297/129707por.pdf).

With Jondi Keane of Griffith University, Brisbane AU, I co-directed the first completely digital g***** humanities conference-- AG3-Online: The Third International Arakawa and Gins: Architecture and Philosophy Conference -- which ran from March 12-26, 2010 with concluding celebrations at Barnard College April 30, and at
The Solomon Guggenheim Museum, May 1, where Martin gave the inaugural keynote.
See the conference website:

I recently published Part One of a long study called "Jazz and Emergence" in the journal _Inflexions_ 4, which looks at the science and philosophy in order to understand jazz performance as a "complex system":
http://www.senselab.ca/inflexions/volume_4/n4_rosenberghtml.html
(Warning: its long--94 pp with 34 sound files)
I have two more essays in process, at this moment during the summer of 2012, and I expect "Jazz and Emergence" to become a book soon.

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
