Tell us a little about your background...
Erskine Hawkins III is a music director, producer and pianist based in Dallas Texas. Inspired by his father, gospel and jazz pianist Erskine Hawkins Jr., Hawkins’ started playing the piano by 13 years of age, leading bands at age 14 and was quickly labeled a prodigy. His pianistic influences have included Ahmad Jamal, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Robert Glasper, and Jamar Jones.

Hawkins attended the University of North Texas, where he studied under Stefan Karlsson, Dan Haerle, and Dr. Steven Harlos. There, he met Jazz vocalist Tatiana Mayfield. Together, they have performed in jazz festivals around the country to include Jazz in the Grove in Bay Springs, Mississippi; Texas Jazz Festival in Corpus Christi, TX; Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival in Mobile, Alabama; Jazz By the Boulevard in Fort Worth, Texas; The Cottonwood Jazz Festival in Richardson, TX; and the Texas State Fair Main Stage in Dallas.

Erskine is the producer and arranger of his 2009 debut album “From All Directions”. It's an amazing array of styles from Swing and Blues, to Latin, Gospel, and Contemporary that people from all ages can enjoy. It has received great reviews by Jazz Times Magazine and jazz journalist Scott Yanow; author of ten books including The Jazz Singers, Trumpet Kings, Jazz On Film and Jazz On Record 1917-76.

Now working on his Master’s degree in Jazz Piano Performance, Hawkins continues to perform in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area with several world renown artists of varying styles. He is currently the auxiliary keyboardist/organist of the Potter's House Church in Dallas, Texas under the direction of legendary Bishop T.D Jakes.

Erskine the Third:

Got an eloquent surprise when I began investigating this new worldwide jazz venue: not only a way to touch bases with Lady Tash, but a convenient means of reaching you, AND hearing your pianistics at the same time. Ain't technology grand? Love hearing your Debussy intro to "Round Midnight" while surfing on your page. Of course, if I already said that in the review, try to overlook my poor memory. I do too many reviews and simply cannot remember what I rave about...Harvey Siders

Thanks for the invitation to be friends. I'll be checking out your music asap. I'm not a recording artist at this time but I do produce live concerts in the south Jersey area. I am presently working to build a list of available artists to perform at our shows. Small venue at this time, about 80 seats, but we plan to expand as the crowd increases. The central S. Jersey area is void of jazz venues and we feel that there is potential for growth in what we're doing. Thanks, Keep in touch,  Dave

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!

Buster Williams
