I sing mainly jazz and easy listening but will tackle any other genre that people might want me to do. I have recorded an album which I am selling partly for Cancer Research UK because I am a cancer survivor myself and having come through treatment I want to do as much as I can to raise funds so that future generations may not have to go through what I did.The cd can be purchased through my website www.graceblackmusic.com or www.myspace.com/gracesblack and there are some tracks there for you to listen to. You can also download some individual tracks by visiting http://indiestore.7digital.com/graceblack

I was made redundant from my 'day job' in October 2008 so I am now concentating on trying to make singing my only job!!! Hope the severance cheque holds out long enough to pay my mortgage for a while!!!!!!!!!!!!

A friend and I run a jazz club in Fife,Scotland on the 2nd Sunday of every month. If you are ever in the area please come along and see some great Scottish jazz acts. You can have a look at some of the great acts that have visited us by checking out our Facebook page for photos, videos and website links http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=71990485538

I would love to have the chance to perform all over the world so if any promoters/booking agents are interesred please get in touch

I was lucky enough to have the title track from my cd 'Someone to watch over me' played on Radio Ulster's Jazz Club on Sunday 15th February. Presenter, Walter Love, said 'Grace has a rich, mature voice with a distinctive feel for getting the most out of the lyrics' A nice compliment from someone who has been in the business for a long time.

Update August 2009

Despite a shaky start our club has managed to keep going and we are keeping our heads above water. We have had some great acts in over the last few months and you can see pics and videos by visiting our Facebook page www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=71990485538

Maybe against common sense in these times of credit crunch a friend and I started a new jazz club in our local area. We have no money to fund it with so we have to rely on people turing… Continue

Hi Grace. My god that was quick. Thanks for getting-back to me. It must be morning where you are. Here it's early evening. Yes I experience the same, with P.J.R., especially when communicating with Richard. He is getting ready for bed when I am about to have lunch. As mentioned earlier, the jazz scene here is huge, too huge for me to cover, so I concentrate my info' on the scene in the Kansai - Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe to name a few. On the events front, not a month passes when there is an event somewhere in Japan. Next month I have 6-events to attend.Check-out my videos for a taste of jazz in Japan. I will e.mail you through your yahoo address, if that is okay. Then I can write longer, more informative messages. So, until then, all the very best.
Regards,
Barry.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Duke Ellington: Highlights Of His Twilight

The great composer and bandleader was distraught over the 1967 death of Billy Strayhorn, his songwriting and arranging partner of 28 years. But Ellington took Strayhorn's passing as an impetus, born of necessity, to increase his own productivity. Here are five examples.

Chris Potter Quartet On JazzSet

At the Village Vanguard, one flight down from the hubbub of New York City, in a tight space packed with people, we're about to embark on a musical odyssey by sea. Our captain is saxophonist Chris Potter, who's launching his Odyssey-inspired album The Sirens.

Pat Metheny And John Zorn: A Vivid Sound World

The two artists are known opposites in the world of instrumental music. On Metheny's latest, the jazz guitarist wrings an unexpectedly visual listening experience from Zorn's knotty compositions.

Sarah Vaughan: A New Box Set Revels In Glorious Imperfections

Divine: The Jazz Albums, 1954-1958 packs four CDs with Vaughan's music, recorded live or in the studio with bands big and small. Two live albums from Chicago nightclubs are standouts, partly when a performance threatens to slide off the rails.

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.
