Track review: FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE from Hilde Hefte & The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra “AN EVENING IN PRAGUE” – PJRCD 111
Rating: 98 out of 100
Norwegian chanteuse Hilde Hefte delivers an intimate, assured rendering of one of the most intricate and lovely ballads ever written. With a relaxed authority devoid of diva pretensions, her ethereal voice glides through Elise Bretton’s intricate changes while Egil Kapstad’s deceptively understated piano utlizes space to enhance rather thatn crowd his lush orchestral arrangement. Captured in a live session with the prolific Prague Philharmonic under the capable Mario Klemens, this is a recording to be savored in a private moment – perfect for lovers in front of a fire on a chilly night. Personally, I can’t wait to spend an evening or two in Prague. Bill Barnes

Track review: QUIET NOW from Hilde Hefte & The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, ”AN EVENING IN PRAGUE” – PJRCD 111
Rating: 95 out of 100
There has been a longstanding belief among medical professionals that, if you can get through med school and survive a residency, you are capable of doing anything – fly an airplane, write a bestselling novel or even play jazz. Of course, any bona fide jazz musician who has ever been invited to sit in with a “doctors’ band” will attest to the fallacy of that notion. One rare exception is critically acclaimed jazz pianist, composer and, yes, psychiatrist Denny Zeitlin, who penned the haunting ballad, “Quiet Now.”
Hilde Hefte, one of Norway’s national treasures, has teamed with her longtime pianist and arranger Egil Kapstad and the Prague Philharmonic to offer dreamy, luxurious treatment of what is arguably Dr. Zeitlin’s finest compostion. As always, Ms. Hefte’s relaxed interpretation reveals a musician’s sensibility and the wisdom to let the melody speak for itself. Dare I say this could be precisely what the doctor ordered? Hi Hilde:
Hope you are doing well. Wishing you happy holidays.

Courtesy announcement -
Nicolas Beardes' latest Single release, “ Snowflakes” featuring Nicolas and the vocals of a cappella sensation, SoVoSo is available this holiday season at http://www.itunes.com and http://www.cdbaby.com.

Nicolas has been a member of Bobby McFerrin’s renowned a cappella ensemble “ Voicestra” since 1990, as well as a solo artist in his own right. A seasoned and highly respected showman on stage, and a powerful music force well versed in diverse styles of rhythm and jazz, Bearde is masterful at drawing audiences into his performance. His influences range from Lou Rawls, Burt Bacharach and Marvin Gaye, to Luther Vandross and the Temptations, however, Nicolas has carved out his own style and made a notable contribution to the jazz world with his own quartet "The Right Groove". His dynamic show contains original music, as well as jazz and blues standards, and he has thrilled audiences around the world with his soulful interpretations.

In 1998 he released his first CD, “Crossing the Line” on his own imprint, Right Groove Records, which garnered fans, and great reviews in the UK, and a sold out concert at the Jazz Café in London. In 2005, Nicolas released his second CD, “ All about Love” which rose to #7 on the charts on Canadian Smooth Jazz radio, followed in 2008 by his release of “Live at Yoshis – A salute to Lou – a tribute to the music of legendary Lou Rawls.

Thank you! And yes, my grandmother's family name is Englebritzen. My spelling may be a little off due to the fact that her father changed their name to Lee when he got here, so i've never really ever got to see it in context. However, I am fascinated by that particular branch of my family tree. I hope to get up to you soon.

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
