SHELLEY BURNS ~ ACCENTUATE

TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY MERCER

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!

Tell us a little about your background...
I am a lover of humanity and the arts. I write poetry, I sing, and I listen and learn as much as I can and as well as I can, that which is meaningful. I appreciate discussions that have depth and which relate to enriching the human experience.

I view quality of life in a very holistic manner and see the quality of spiritual life as foundational to the overall quality of life. I am ever striving to enhance my own and am fortunate to have a disposition and (even a job) that allows me to assist in facilitating the enhancement of that of others.

Eyes Shining

Posted on May 13, 2009 at 6:30pm 0 Comments

I saw eyes shine

Out of well-moulded brown face

Formed just so - conveying the grace

Of the Master Potter -

A form calling for touch

(But not too much)

Calling for fingers to reach up

And trace eyelids

And cheekbones gently curved -

Ever so slightly defined (their fullness partly hid)

By the softly stretched skin

Of a half-smile -

A smile just waiting -

Waiting for the right stimulus

To make it full -

And perhaps a… Continue

While She Slept

(Reflections on Goddess III,

A painting of a blue nude by Omowale Stewart)

Dolphins leapt

While she slept

On sand dunes

Oh Clair de la lune

He friend – petit-ami Pierre

Was no longer there

He had long looked

Upon her

Sleeping bliss

His face afire still

With the remnants

Of his kiss

He was taking now

A walk of contemplation

Reliving their passion’s… Continue

Your Song Held Me Tonight

Posted on April 9, 2009 at 6:30am 1 Comment

Your song held me tonight

After a day that lacked the kind of peace

That a Sunday should have

That lacked the kind of ease

That brings sweet release

But just in time came inspiration

To look for you in your creations

And so I did

And your song held me tonight

Your song held me tonight

And somehow reassured me

Your song held me tonight

And told me that you adore me

The pain in my day seemed to keep me bound

I felt that… Continue
