I want to expose all my friends to my music of choice. I have been a contemporary/smooth jazz listener since I was 17 when i first heard Grover Washington and David Sanborn. I always wanted to expose all of my friends to my music choice. I dreamed of putting together a live show for my community where the entire family could come see a live show and hopefully the youth would be inspired and engaged enough to want to learn an instrument. Sooo ... after thinking about it for about 5 years I finally decided to put it together with the thought that if I do it they will come. Needless to say....we are now in our 8th year with close to 8,000 attending at our FREE outdoor concert for the community. Also a non profit was created from brainstorming and dreaming of possibilities to touch people. When I tell people why I started all of this ...I say it all started with a selfish motive, "I love Jazz so much I wanted to give it away free." www.projectartreach.org

So good to hear from you. Who is your favorite trumpeter. I am a fan of trumpet myself. I love the transcendent feeling one gets from it. Thank you for your compliment on the poems. I hope to publish. I enjoy writing. It's a natural part of me.
Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.
I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.
My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."
