Tell us a little about your background...
Born in Sweden, this soulful singer/songwriter and pianist started tuning her skills at age four with piano lessons. Some twenty years later, her varied experience, influences and training has shaped her raw talent and passion into a truly unique and well-rounded souljazz artist. While growing up in Stockholm, Josefin attended a prestigious music school, taking part in many concert projects, album recordings, opera performances and musicals. She made her first solo recording at age eleven, and toured extensively in both Europe and North America with a prominent girls’ choir. Inspired by her growing love for jazz, in particular the innovative spirit of Ella Fitzgerald, she formed a jazz quartet at age fifteen and had regular gigs at a well-known jazz club in Stockholm. She went on to attend Berklee College of Music where she studied for, among others, Bob Stoloff (Bobby McFerrin’s Vocal Summit) and Kudisan Kai (Anita Baker, Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan and Mary J Blige). She is now based in London and has performed at venues such as the Vibe Bar, Charlie Wright’s, Café de Paris, Neighbourhood and the Hammersmith Apollo, and has been an opening act for Alexander O'Neal, Omar and Raheem DeVaughn.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Chris Potter Quartet On JazzSet

At the Village Vanguard, one flight down from the hubbub of New York City, in a tight space packed with people, we're about to embark on a musical odyssey by sea. Our captain is saxophonist Chris Potter, who's launching his Odyssey-inspired album The Sirens.

Pat Metheny And John Zorn: A Vivid Sound World

The two artists are known opposites in the world of instrumental music. On Metheny's latest, the jazz guitarist wrings an unexpectedly visual listening experience from Zorn's knotty compositions.

Sarah Vaughan: A New Box Set Revels In Glorious Imperfections

Divine: The Jazz Albums, 1954-1958 packs four CDs with Vaughan's music, recorded live or in the studio with bands big and small. Two live albums from Chicago nightclubs are standouts, partly when a performance threatens to slide off the rails.

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.

Grady Tate On Piano Jazz

Grady Tate began his jazz career as a much-celebrated drummer, backing such icons as Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Tate has since traded in his skins for a microphone at center stage, where he delivers smooth and soulful baritone vocals. With pianist John di Martino, Tate sings "Everybody Loves My Baby" and "Where Do You Start."
