Tell us a little about your background...
I am a professional drummer. Born in London England . I am mainly self-taught, but studied with Joe Hodson, Frank King and had a couple of lessons from Joe Morello. In 1968, I was living and performing in South Africa. I was was a founder member of 70's chart -topping pop group "Pickettywitch" and performed on all their recordings."Pickettywitch" made many appearances on BBC's legendary pop programme "Top Of The Pops" and performed at NME poll-winners concert at Wembley Arena. I then went on to play with the famous 60's group "Gerry and the Pacemakers" with whom I toured internationally for 5 years. I returned to my jazz roots by joining UK's "Terry Lightfoot band" where I stayed for 5 years. I was also engaged in several of London's West End theatres working on such musicals as "With a Little help From my Friends","Cabaret", "West-Side Story",and national tours with "Hair", "Grease", "Godspell" and "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Since then, I have performed and recorded around the world with many top international artistes.e.g. Jay McShan, Richie Cole, Al Grey,The London Jazz Big-Band,Ted Curzon, Ron McClure, Mike Longo, Pete Yellin, Tommy Whittle,Chris Spedding, Spike Heatley, Kenny Baker, Bo Stief, Hans Backenroth, Lars Erstrand, Jan Ludgren, D*** Heckstall-Smith, Bob Wilbur, Janusz Camello, Hacke Björksten, Frank Ricotti, Alec Dankworth, John Etheridge, Kymi Sinfonietta,The Rosenberg Trio, Finnish Opera Big-Band and many others. In May 1987, I worked in Finland for the first time with the Chicago-born pianist June "Pepper" Harris and her fine trio. We returned many times to Finland and also performed and recorded in Singapore as well. While in Helsinki, I met the lady who was not only to change my life, but also my address as well!

I moved from London to Helsinki in 1990 and married top Finnish fashion designer Titvi Ikäheimo. I am currently performing internationally with Finland's famous Antti Sarpila Swing Band, with whom I have recorded, to date, 18 albums and the first, ever, Finnish Jazz DVD. I also have the great pleasure to perform with one of the world's "hottest" piano trio's "The Marian Petrescu Trio". This trio has been "wowing" audiences and critics alike, around the world, since its inception in 2000. The trio has been ecstatically received in the USA and was also invited to perform a nationally televised concert at the Kremlin Moscow in 2007. The trio continue appear at many major jazz festivals around the world.

I also freelance internationally, performing and recording with large and small groups and encompassing a wide range of musical styles.

Miscellaneous facts.

So far, I have visited over 58 countries and have performed on television and or radio in over 30. For 5 years, I produced and presented my own weekly radio show "Playback" on a local radio station in Helsinki.

Hey Keith, I don't think I have ever told you what a pleasure it was to work with you. You, my friend as a musician, drummer, percussionist and fellow artist and are very sensitive to their playing or singing , musician first and percussionist. Add to this you're fun to play with...and the audience feels the vibe. This group is great. Keep it up. June H.
