With a distinctive sound that is soulful, intimate and expressive, Lucas is building a reputation as a part of a jazz tradition -- the male balladeer -- a tradition that cries out for new blood. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, LUCAS began honing his musical sensibilities at an early age, under the influence of his family; his adolescent listening experiences ran the gamut -- from Motown to Mozart to Miles to Mangeshkar. (And all the hotspots in-between) After majoring in Theatre Arts at the University of Georgia, Lucas moved to New York City, where he has lived, and worked as a singer/actor/director for more than a decade and a half in films, television, and numerous NY/International theatrical productions. Performing in a variety of nightclub/cabaret settings, Lucas has been nominated for Manhattan Cabaret/MAC Award as Best Jazz Vocalist. Over the past decade, Lucas has lived between New York City and Seoul, South Korea, touring in numerous theater and concert productions. He was twice awarded the Seoul-Sounds Award for Best Jazz Vocalist – Male and maintains an artist-in-residency position at Kyungnam University (South Korea). Lucas also works as a teacher/performer with the National Theater/Cabaret of the Handicapped; Music Editor of NY’s Urban Buzz Magazine, producer at HBO/Creative Services and serves as Artistic Director of Korus Players.
Blessed to have worked with BOB BALDWIN/piano, BUDDY WILLIAMS/drums, PAUL NOWINSKI/bass, ANDY EZRIN/piano; JEFFREY CHIN/pianist.

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.
I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.
My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."
