Marcia Kern Classically trained with a knack for popular music, lyric singing is in Marcia Kern's blood - her father, conductor/pianist Marcineli Cope, imparted the secrets of this musical art to her very early in life. She later studied classical voice with Victor Prochat Carol Mac'Davit. The transition to popular music was easy - Marcia was an important member of vocal groups such as "Vozes do Rio" and "Scandallo" on the happening Rio music scene in the 90's. Since then, Marcia has shared the stage with heavyweight Brazilian artists such as: Ithamara Koorax, Kay Lyra, Simone Guimarães, Mestre Zé Paulo, Joel Nascimento, Marcílio Figueiró, Marcel Powell, Fernanda Canaud, Marlon Mouzer, Chico Peçanha, Manduka, Misael da Hora, and international artists like Jeff Gardner and Antonio Arnedo, among many others. Through her work with composers Eduardo Camenietzk and Maurício Durão Marcia recorded sound tracks for major films by cineast Silvio Tendler, including "JK - O Menino Sonhou um País” and “Fragmentos do Exílio", prizewinner at the Argentinan film festival. The film "Glauber, O Filme - Labirinto do Brasil", by Sylvio Tendler, with Marcia singing on the soundtrack together with Ithamara Koorax and Grupo Scandallo, won both the jury and audience prizes at the 36th Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro in 2003 and was shown at the Film Festival in Cannes, in 2004. She also recorded vocals on soundtracks for noted filmakers Ricardo Zimmer and Luiz Rangel. New projects include Marcia's first DVD, with musical direction by Misael da Hora. She also guested on the CD "LOOK INSIDE” by Jeff Gardner and Pierre Comblat, where she sings and shares composer credits for the catchy techno-bossa “Eu Sou Assim”. Hey Marcia ~
Stopping by to listen to my favorite Brasilian songbird sing her beautiful song .
I hope life is treating you well and that you are creating more beautiful songs ; )
Much love and respect from your lifetime friend and devoted fan ... J S ~
Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.
I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.
My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."
