Bill Mays - The Inventions Trio

Posted on July 12, 2008 at 11:01am 0 Comments

Finally, a chamber group that swings! With this unconventional instrumentation of Piano, trumpet and cello, Bill Mays has opened a new page in jazz. With his long time friend and associate, Marvin Stamm and the introduction of classically trained cellist, Alisa Horn, they've produced an inspiring and spirited, both classical and jazz, set of music that is refreshing, thoughtful and original. Marvin’s approach to this music is soft and trained in the classical nuances to give the music its new… Continue

Karrin Allyson Live in San Diego

Posted on June 26, 2008 at 7:52pm 1 Comment

Karrin Allyson divided up her very tasty one and a half hour set at the Seville Theater, in San Diego, into three parts. She did some gutsy blues, some suave Brazilian and some very traditional jazz lines, such as Jordu, all to an appreciative sold out audience. With a very steady and supporting group in back of her she displayed her now classic and very identifiable voice to perfection. Backed by Guitarist, Larry Koonse, bassist, Tom Warrington and Todd Strait on drums, whether playing the… Continue

Hey, Roll 'em Pete, I have no doubt that you know what great band played that song. I read your post about the best jazz concert, and wanted to stop by and read more of your stuff and I enjoyed it. I'll come by again.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!
