Saxophonist, singer,French composer, the child of Brazil...


Richard Mercier began to play music at music school, 8 years old, in Vichy France where he was born.

He left Vichy to Paris,16 years old, and performed music with the best musicians as Jonathan HENDELSMAN, Larrie GISLESPIE,Ron MEZA and Michel GOLBERG.

In 1998, he won the vocal Jazz competition and received a prize from the jury forewoman, the American Jazz singer Mrs Michelle Hendricks .

His desire to discover new countries, news trendies, new mainlands as Brazil where he decided to settle in 2003. In Brazil, he worked with the University of state of Minas Gerias, located in Belo Horizonte, and set up some workshops.

Well-known and highly valued in Brazil as much as France, he played in Ipatinga and Savassi Jazz festivals of Belo horizonte.
Fostered by peer group and by the Ministry of Culture of Brazil, he composed and launched his first record CD in 2010.

Tout commence où Richard MERCIER entre à l’âge de 8 ans à l’école de musique de Vichy, sa ville natale.

A 16 ans, il part étudier à Paris auprès de Jonathan HENDELSMAN, Larrie GISLESPIE,Ron MEZA et Michel GOLBERG.

En 1998, en France, à Metz, il remporte le concours de jazz vocal avec mention unanime du jury présidée par la chanteuse américaine Michelle Hendricks .

Son envie d’évasion et de découverte musicale le mène au BRÉSIL, pays où il décidera de s’installer en 2003, où il met en place deux ateliers à l’université d’état du Minas Gerais situé à Belo horizonte.

Reconnu et apprécié aussi bien qu’en France qu’ au Brésil, il se produit au festival de jazz d’Ipatinga, au Savassi Jazz de Belo horizonte. Encouragé par ses pairs et par le Ministère de la culture du Brésil, il compose et lance son premier CD en 2010.


En ce moment il prépare une tournée Du CD “7” dans l’état de Minas Gerais au Brésil pour 2011/2012. La fédération nationale de la culture vient de sélectionner son CD parmis 15 artistes représentant l’état du Minas Gérais !!

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."
