With fresh interpretations of jazz standards, and lyrical originals, NYC jazz vocalist Rick MacLaine is an artist with a clear musical vision. His rhythm and tone reflect his understanding of the jazz vocal masters of the past, while revealing a unique personal style with a contemporary sound.
Rick was a Top Five finalist in the Michelob Red Ribbon Jazz Vocal Competition in NYC, and has performed at notable NYC venues including Birdland and B.B. King’s. He has appeared with vocalist Sheila Jordan, and is honored to be featured on legendary pianist Barry Harris’ DVD dedicated to the art of Jazz singing. He has headlined the Jazz In The Moonlight Festival on St. John, USVI and has appeared throughout the United States and abroad. Prior to attending Berklee College of Music, Rick, and duet partner Karen Vasil were voted the Performers Of The Year by Boston's television-viewing audience.
Rick offers workshops in jazz performance and currently manages the weekly Jazz Vocal Workshop at Small’s Jazz Club in Greenwich Village.

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.
I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.
