- Tell us a little about your background...
- Jazz listener since childhood. My parents were always listening to Miles, Trane, Cannonball, Art Blakey, Jimmy Smith..etc. I was into it and loved hearing it around the house. Started playing Tenor sax in Jr. High and switched to drums in the 12th grade. Studied drums for a year at LA City Collage while drumming for my musical Godfather....Johnny "Guitar" Waston, and then went on to drum for "Little" Richard. After a world tour with Richard, I joined New Birth and their musical counterpart, the NiteLiters. I am the original drummer, and played drums on all of New Births hits. I am still performing with New Birth, doing solo gigs, free lance gigs, giving private lessons, and frequently drumming outdoors in the mountains of Griffith Park, California , and Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles, California (see my website for details).

Drumming in Griffith Park

Greetings:
It's June 22, 2008 - it has been as hot as a miner’s oven here in Southern California. I was out at the woodshed up in Griffith Park yesterday. Hot, but it was beautiful. I had a good time, did some good playing, some good sheding, drank lots of water, and poured tons of water over my head to cool down after each 1 hour (or more) solo drumming session. The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship.
