The concept of SANKOFA is derived from King Adinkera of the Akan people of West Afrika. SANKOFA is expressed in the Akan language as "se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenki".
Literally translated it means "it is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot"
Jazz music tells the tales of ghosts and fairies; blues, the lore of the sense of loss--the presence of absence; and they are both the voice of a soul without sex, gender, or age. All music has my name, my face, my scent and touches my soul. The lyrical note may recount my sorrow, but the instrumentation can resist, be my determination and liberation,my dominant captor or a lover who kisses so gently my eyelid so that I might see Love.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!
