What is your affiliation to the Jazz World?
Musical Artist, Vocalist, Consultant, Publisher, Educator, Clinician, Music Director, Arranger, Composer, Business Manager, Recording Engineer, Recording Studio, Jazz Historian, Fan
Tell us a little about your background...
I own a studio in Milpitas, CA and aside from owning a music publishing company, I have an "all star" band that will be touring in September for a venue called World Peace One (www.WP1.com) where we will be opening for three legendary British R&R bands for 3.5 million people. I also just opened a non-profit corporation for a school of music technology, that will be both a web based school and regular attendance facility. This school will have Grammy Award winning teachers along with some of the greatest musicians/engineers/producers and writers available. We will provide Pro Tools Training from both certified instructors and others who are just simply real world professionals who are of the finest stature. We have a mission statement that says "we will provide a service to the Pro Audio community which will help people who can't afford to go to a "Full Sail" type of university, but instead go to a place featuring real world players, producers and engineers who have a background that is equal or better than the people involved in these other types of schools. We will do this at an affordable price, which will make this type of school a viable option for a lot of people who previously could not afford to get this type of training. It will be the first school of it's kind, being non-profit, and web based as well as a regular attendance facility. There will be a sister school not affiliated with the school of technology too. Here we will provide top notch musical training from the same types of teachers, in several instruments, in all different genres, and for all levels up to and including professionals. Goldrecordings also makes movie soundtracks, CDs, and other audio products, and is an award winning facility. The owner, Scott Goldberg was offered to play guitar in the Jerry Garcia Band shortly after he sadly passed away, and he has played with dozens of world famous bands and artist from these bands including the Beach Boys, Lynrd Skynrd, Queen, Herbie Hancock, David Grissman, Dickey Betts from the Allman Brothers, Paul Stanley from KISS, along with several jazz greats, and many others.

P.S. My main contribution to the jazz world aside from the fusion and jazz standards that I play and rearrange is that I am a guitar ragtime specialist. I play ragtime that's usually considered more like piano music in that it has a moving bass, middle and melody line all moving independently. It's kins of like a Chet Atkins style only sometimes more complex. Please listen to Nola, Jonathan's Rag, and D's Daze. They will give you an idea of how I play this style. I also play the Maple leaf Rag in completion, and other Joplin songs, along with most every Blind Blake song he ever put out. Thanks, Scott

Hello all,

Just received news from Legal Zoom that my corporate paperwork for the state is now complete and ready for submission. Since Legal Zoom claims to have a 100% success rate with filing and getting these papers approved, I am optimistic that all will be great as far as this being a non-profit corporation. I will keep everyone posted and remember that this is not just a school for people in this area but that it's web based, and we will eventually be broadcasting to…

Songs of Gold Publishing

We are happy and proud to report that our publishing company has been connecting with a lot of new clients who seem to like our style. We just had a wonderful thing happen, where one of my clients, has hit number four on the British Charts and hit number twelve today on the American Charts (FM) and internet radio. We have other clients who are on the verge of breaking through as well and if you are, in fact, looking for a publisher, you need not look any further. Our company would be happy…

Hey man I feel you. Every instrument has its unique voice for sure.  As a sax player I used to run into a lot of situations where someone hired me for a specific song and wanted me to tear up a solo. I'd listen to the tune and it would be in the wrong scale for the particular sax I felt like I needed to use to capture the sound. An Alto fits some tunes, a Tenor fits others, but sometimes the scale the song is written in might be killer for a guitar player but just isn't quite right to express the flavor I want to impart with my instrument. It's great that you understand that, so many good writers I've played with never really got the concept. These days, because I'm older and have more confidence in my playing, I have no problem turning down work that I don't feel I can adequately add to. We all have unique voices as musicians and sometimes they fit in some situations and some times they don't. I think it takes time to really discover what you excel at and what you don't. I always try to work on my weaknesses as a player, but these days I also know "my voice" and it's accompanying quirks. I used to beat myself up if I couldn't fit into a particular song, now I just say " no big deal, I'll wait for the tune that needs my sound". Good stuff to talk about for sure!

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
