Blocked from Blair House

Brian Goldsmith

Former Political Producer at the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric

If I were the political editor at a newspaper -- or Washington bureau chief of a network -- I'd call in my White House team, as well as the investigative reporters, and ask them to try to answer the following questions:

1. Given that the Obamas want to move to Blair House ten days before… Continue

Barack Obama's Grandmother dies

Posted on November 3, 2008 at 3:41pm 0 Comments

Barack Obama's grandmother Madelyn Dunham has died from cancer, aged 86. Dunham helped raise Obama from age 10. The Democratic presidential candidate visited her in Hawaii last month, saying she may not live until election day.

We need a President who believes the economy should work for everyone, not just the few. We need a President who believes everyone should have access to affordable healthcare. We need a president who believes we should end the war in Iraq.

We need a President with good judgment and integrity, who appeals to what unites us. That' why I'm supporting Barack Obama for President.

We're just a few days from Election Day, and all the campaign's efforts are devoted to getting… Continue

A Conservative Republican for Obama

My party has slipped its moorings. It's time for a true pragmatist to

lead the country.

Leading Off By Wick Allison, Editor In Chief

THE MORE I LISTEN TO AND READ ABOUT "the most liberal member of the

U.S. Senate," the more I like him. Barack Obama strikes a chord with

me like no political figure since Ronald Reagan. To explain why, I

need to explain why I am a conservative and what it… Continue

Thanks Sharon

I truly appreciate your comments about my video. I love playing that song with the keyboardist in the Video. I never know what he's going to do with it and that keeps things interesting.

You've got some great music on your page -- I'm going to have to come back and listen to a few more tunes when I get a chance.

Enjoy your day

Happy New Year.

Travis Bridges plays Alto, Tenor and Soprano Saxophones and is available for all occasions where music is appreciated. From an anointed church service, a cozy restaurant, a birthday surprise at work, to your back yard family reunion, he'll be ready to "make it do what it do". From inspirational tunes, jazz, R&B, Top-40 and if they act right, a little Rock and roll for your soul.

Artists such as Michael McDonald, Anita Baker, Gloria Estefan, DeBarge, Grover Washington,Jr, John Cougar, Yolanda Adams, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Kirk Franklin, Simply Red , and of course originals from himself are just a few that he will play and play well.

Just log on to www.mightyhornmusic.com, e-mail him at mightyhornmusic@aol.com or just let your fingers do the walking at 786 487-7338 or 954-9-TRAVIS. He'll always be on time and if you and your guests are not please within the first three songs, He'll pay you and that set will be on the house.:) (Just kidding)

Let's have some fun.

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Why Jazz Musicians Love 'The Rite Of Spring'

A 100-year-old ballet, composed by a Russian for a French audience, has become something of a standard in an idiom which didn't exist when it premiered. Whether covered, quoted or praised, Stravinsky's masterwork has inspired multiple generations of improvisers.

Duke Ellington: Highlights Of His Twilight

The great composer and bandleader was distraught over the 1967 death of Billy Strayhorn, his songwriting and arranging partner of 28 years. But Ellington took Strayhorn's passing as an impetus, born of necessity, to increase his own productivity. Here are five examples.

Chris Potter Quartet On JazzSet

At the Village Vanguard, one flight down from the hubbub of New York City, in a tight space packed with people, we're about to embark on a musical odyssey by sea. Our captain is saxophonist Chris Potter, who's launching his Odyssey-inspired album The Sirens.

Pat Metheny And John Zorn: A Vivid Sound World

The two artists are known opposites in the world of instrumental music. On Metheny's latest, the jazz guitarist wrings an unexpectedly visual listening experience from Zorn's knotty compositions.

Sarah Vaughan: A New Box Set Revels In Glorious Imperfections

Divine: The Jazz Albums, 1954-1958 packs four CDs with Vaughan's music, recorded live or in the studio with bands big and small. Two live albums from Chicago nightclubs are standouts, partly when a performance threatens to slide off the rails.
