Hi Von;
You're very welcome. It's important to take the time to listen to the music of musicians that you wish to meet on here. There's too much posting of giant ads that goes on comment sections throughout most networking sites - Sending a 'real' message is more genuine, IMHO. So glad you enjoyed my "Grape" song. It's sort of my signature. Debating on whether or not to re-record it with a fresh arrangement on the new CD. Warm regards from VERY chilly Canada! Brenda

Greetings from near Toronto, Von. Kudos on keeping your dad's story alive through the doc you are making - it is so important that we do these things. Love your first 2 tracks - very dreamlike and evocative. All the very best to you. Brenda (Vocals)

Simply trust what inspires you....what a peaceful thought. Thank you Von for coming by and sharing your sentiment to me about my father. He really was a wise and comical fellow...I loved 'hangin' with him...very special guy. I also enjoyed what your dad would say to you as you'd leave the house...its those words that resonate in us as we focus upon life. Nothing like influence that shares value, thanks for sharing those words of heart with me.

Jason and Marc talk about Bud Shank's association with the Laurindo Almeida Quartet, a group put together by bassist Harry Babasin, and its influence on the creation of the Bossa Nova - great listen -…

Harry Babasin's Jazz In Hollywood

Posted on September 3, 2009 at 6:30pm 0 Comments

I have recently had the honor of having an interview get published on the New York Foundation for the Arts website about the documentary I'm producing about my father and West Coast Jazz called Harry Babasin's Jazz In Hollywood. It's named after the 'Jazz In Hollywood' series, a series of 10" albums released by my father's record label, Nocturne Records, in 1954. It is definitive West Coast Jazz and features some of the biggest names on the west coast as they broke onto the jazz scene. Names… Continue

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
