Tell us a little about your background...
StreetJazz is the name of our weekly radio show on JazzNet247 Radio Europe helping to showcase indie artists and labels from the Smooth and Brazilian Jazz genres. We also feature the household names of the genre as well as the hottest new releases and the highest chart climbers from the Groove Jazz Charts to which we contribute each week.

JazzNet247 Radio Europe was first established in 1999 when our website had already been in existence for 5 years supporting the jazz genre and especially offering a shop window for the plethora of great indie artists and labels worldwide. The name STREETJAZZ comes from the fact that we don't always follow the commercial radio stations by playing the household names of the genre.

Our show is broadcast legally ( albeit modestly ) through our host LIVE365.com and offers a quite different blend of Smooth Jazz, Great Vocals and Brazilian Flavours. We also feature some Nu-Jazz, Lounge, Lo-Fi and R'n'B.

We are now delighted to be the No. 1 Jazz Radio Station on our National Reverb Nation Charts, all-the-more gratifying as it was voted there by the listeners to our shows.

There are now 7 Worldwide Platforms available to tune in to our six shows and all the links are available via our website's homepage at www.JazzNet247.com These include our own website, FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter, Reverb Nation, Jazz Matrix and Live365.

Apart from our marquee STREETJAZZ Show, we also have 5 Bonus Channels to listen to which include Soundtraxx with Mark Stanley.

I have been in the music industry for 45 years plus, worked with major label Sony Jazz UK ( CBS, Columbia, Epic, Legacy, CTI, Sony Jazz ) and performed as a live musician as well as a music presenter. I'm delighted to have built up a real friendship through our jazz projects with many of the leading artists worldwide.

Our shows are serviced by the leading record labels as well as the best servicing agents worldwide and the plethora of indie musicians and labels who submit their music each week to the project.

We may not be ' the biggest ' but hopefully we are one of ' the brightest' radio stations in the world of Smooth, Vocal and Brazilian music.

Our playlists are generated by a real passion for the music and a willingness to share the treasuretrove of music collected over a lifetime.

If you enjoy our kind of music and our shows, please pass on the link to your friends and perhaps they can drop by sometime to check out the new tunes.

Thanks for your support and we'll do our best to keep finding new songs for you to enjoy.

About JazzNet247 Radio and Founder Wes Gillespie

JazzNet247 was an established brand name as part of the EuroclubdeJazz website which operated with 8 different jazz channels from 2001 to 2005. It showcased many unknown jazz artists from all around the world and introduced them to a large new audience online.

Note : We hope you can see ( hear ) past the ' unusal adverts ' during the radio shows but this is the price we have to pay for an affordable g***** medium for the project. We hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the music.

Note : Lose the Live365 Commercials - For a few bucks per month you can go ' Commercial Free ' with a LIVE365.com VIP Membership.

Don't Forget - If you enjoy the music, please give us a great rating on our radio page at Live365.com and help us climb the rankings and expose the music even further.

About The Host - The Past

I worked in many aspects of the music industry in those days from Retail and Wholesale Sales and Marketing, Musician, Nightclub Manager, Piano Tuner, Repair Man, Guitar Teacher, Session Man, Sound Engineer but I always had to perform as a presenter on radio or in clubs to let people hear the treasuretrove of wonderful music that I had accumulated in my head over the years.

When the internet came to prominence in 1994 I was working in my trained profession ( the day job ) of corporate marketing, PR and multimedia and in 1994 I started my own company and created my first online jazz website called 'The Jazz Site'.

In 1997 I was approached by Michael Ricci, founder of the All About Jazz project, to help him get started up and I began writing reviews for a number of years for his website.

In 1999 I was asked by Adam Sieff from Sony Jazz in London to develop their online web presence for the greatest jazz catalogue ever known featuring the Columbia, CBS, Legacy, CTI, Epic recordings and their own World Jazz and Sony Jazz albums. This included almost every major artist known to the history of jazz including more than 80 Miles Davis albums.

In 2000 I won the 'Addy Award', a national marketing award in the USA for 'Innovative Multimedia Design' with Steinway pianist Steve Barta from Colorado Springs for an Enhanced CD Project which created a very unique way for independent musicians to sell thousands more of their CD projects, the concept is still available and as valid today.

In 2001 I was asked by Scott Adams, host of the Sounds Of Brazil syndicated radio show in Chicago, USA to help him with his online media presence and designed his first ENewsletter as well as writing reviews for his hard copy magazine.

In 2001 I changed 'The Jazz Site' website to the 'EuroclubdeJazz' branding which became enormous online for five years with thousands of artists and visitors each month to the thousands of pages of jazz information and the eight online Radio Webcasts ( incidently on JazzNet247 Radio ) in various jazz genres. Sadly a serious family illness meant that brand was handed over to a colleague who continues its name today albeit in a Trad Jazz format.

About The Host - The Present

Like the EuroclubdeJazz, JazzNet247's success depends on networking and the artists and fans telling their friends all about it. Already we have a loyal following in the USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, France, Benelux, Scandinavia, Switzerland and Germany, all great markets for the artists we feature.

The jazz market share is relatively small so the large record labels are not interested in promoting it too much. As a marketeer by profession I know that marketing is expensive for independents but in my research and experience I have found that there is so much quality music available but not enough exposure to it. So I hope the artists and fans will tell their friends to tune in and join the buzz.
Our Goal

We would ideally like to use the Radio Show and Website as a platform whereby the organisers of Music Festivals, Promoters, Venues, Producers, Inflight Production Companies can learn more about the wealth of talent that is part of our JazzNet247 Family Of Friends and they can use our platform to listen to and learn more about them. They can then approach the artists directly with a view to having them perform at their events.

...And Finally

I hope that you will enjoy the shows, reading up on the artists and tracks highlighted from two of my favourite Sub Jazz genres ie Smooth Jazz and Brazilian Flavours. We also feature Great Vocalists from the world of Jazz, Nu-Jazz, R'n'B and Cross-Over. There are so many hidden gems from artists from all over the world that are normally not aired on commercial radio.

In a world of so much 'data overload' and 'choice' available I am delighted at the numbers of surfers tuning in to the shows each week and logging on to the website, you are truly outstanding and I thank you.

Our slogan is :- 'Discover New Music Today' and we sincerely hope you do.

If you like the music and the concept of helping the jazz genre, tell your friends about it and send us some feedback or music suggestions to play on the shows.

Kind regards Wes Gillespie - Producer and Host of JazzNet247 Radio

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Duke Ellington: Highlights Of His Twilight

The great composer and bandleader was distraught over the 1967 death of Billy Strayhorn, his songwriting and arranging partner of 28 years. But Ellington took Strayhorn's passing as an impetus, born of necessity, to increase his own productivity. Here are five examples.

Chris Potter Quartet On JazzSet

At the Village Vanguard, one flight down from the hubbub of New York City, in a tight space packed with people, we're about to embark on a musical odyssey by sea. Our captain is saxophonist Chris Potter, who's launching his Odyssey-inspired album The Sirens.

Pat Metheny And John Zorn: A Vivid Sound World

The two artists are known opposites in the world of instrumental music. On Metheny's latest, the jazz guitarist wrings an unexpectedly visual listening experience from Zorn's knotty compositions.

Sarah Vaughan: A New Box Set Revels In Glorious Imperfections

Divine: The Jazz Albums, 1954-1958 packs four CDs with Vaughan's music, recorded live or in the studio with bands big and small. Two live albums from Chicago nightclubs are standouts, partly when a performance threatens to slide off the rails.

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.
