Majamisty Trio explores the space beetween jazz and classical music, expanding the possibilities of traditional piano oriented trio with additional voice, used as an instrument equal to others. Their lyrical music style has an origin in autor’s long experience in classical music and affinity towards jazz, finding the original way of painting subtle moods and emotions.
Maja Alvanović, piano professor at Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, is the bandleader and composer for majority of Majamisty songs. Her previous music experience consists of classical music works.
Double bass player Ervin Malina and drummer Ištvan Čik make one of the most lasting rhythm sections in serbian jazz, impovisational and „world music“ scene, playing individualy or together in different bends for more than a decade (Szilárd Mezei, Boris Kovač, Serboplov, Ossa Quartet). Aleksandra Drobac Čik is a special vocal guest.
Since the foundation in the begining of 2010, Majamisty Trio drove attention of respected serbian musicians (Boris Kovač, Aleksandar Dujin and Jovan Maljoković) which resulted in different kinds of collaborations: recording sessions, club and festival concerts.
In february, Majamisty Trio recorded 8 tracks for the Radio Television of Vojvodina arhives, and two month later they played a concert as a part of „Jazz Appreciation Month“, traditional manifestation organized by American Corner. During the autumn concert season, Majamisty played in two jazz festivals with great tradition, in Valjevo and Kikinda, and also had a first concert in Belgrade, capital city of Serbia.
During the august of 2010, Majamisty Trio finished recording of debut CD „Mistyland“, in studio owned by famous serbian composer Boris Kovač. Album consists of 11 compositions by Maja Alvanović, and cover of Errol Garner’s „Misty“.

I checked out the website and noticed that the Novi Sad Festival, as well as the Belgrade Festival sound promising. It appears that they have workshop opportunities, which I have a lot of experience doing, so, maybe be will get a chance to meet? I enjoy your sound. Keep making great music.
Hope you are doing well. Stopping by to wish you happy holidays. Would be nice to network regarding performance opportunities in Serbia next year for me. Poke me back when you get a chance.

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.
I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.
My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."
