Give Love for Christmas - by Tommie Brewster

My song Give Love For Christmas means love of many kinds, but basically it's about the simplest gift of all; here in a story from my own imagination brought to life - and now to be a children's book.

Tell us a little about your background...

Been a musician foras long as I can remember and a songwriter for almost as long. Decided now is the time to put myself and my music out into the world and so I started very carefully to dip my toes in the waters by letting a few of my my songs be heard out there. The immediate results have been amazing and wonderful in that my song 'Can't Leave You Alone' went almost immediately into the top ten of the blues chart at Reverbnation and has stayed there ever since with lots of radio play all over the world.
Just about everything you hear on these songs is me! - and my best efforts at recording aided by an excellent engineer in NYC

My first album - In the Making- is now out and available on iTunes - this is an amazing achievement for me!

I was raised on a diet of delta blues, ragtime, jazz and rock.
Add classical works to the mix, drop in some reggae, funk
and a great love of mine - polyphonics from Corsica -
and all sorts of other genres along the way.

I studied at the Royal Academy in London so Classical training was extensive and I love to play the works of Chopin - but those performances are for me only!
I love to sing my own version of the blues and my greatest satisfaction is in having that inspiration that results in a perfect marriage of music and lyrics.

Music is a tyrant and a lover and often the creative process is I find almost an exquisite pain, but can be so fulfilling. Music is my life - that's just how it is!!!

Sometimes I regret I let it touch

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.

Grady Tate On Piano Jazz

Grady Tate began his jazz career as a much-celebrated drummer, backing such icons as Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Tate has since traded in his skins for a microphone at center stage, where he delivers smooth and soulful baritone vocals. With pianist John di Martino, Tate sings "Everybody Loves My Baby" and "Where Do You Start."

Woody Herman At 100: 'A Blues Player From His Heart'

He was a soulful reedman, an amazing talent scout for decades and a bandleader of one of the country's most popular acts. Born in 1913, Herman led "Thundering Herds" that were both big draws and well-respected by the likes of Igor Stravinsky. Here are five recordings which still sound fresh today.

Edmar Castañeda And Friends On JazzSet

Hear passionate improvisation across borders on Colombian harp, Argentinian bandoneón, Venezuelan cuatro and vibes from the U.S. In a set with Castañeda, his trio and special guests perform at the Americas Society in New York.

Miguel Zenón Quartet: Live At The Village Vanguard

Ever since he started becoming one of the best alto saxophone players in the world, Zenón has drawn from his upbringing in Puerto Rico. But, like many Puerto Ricans, Zenón lives in New York — where his quartet of 10 years has finally been invited to play the Vanguard. It presents new music in concert.
