BENJY MYAZ STRIKES THE RIGHT NOTE FOR AUTISM

By Basil Walters Observer staff reporter Friday, March 20, 2009

With an increasing number of local entertainers becoming more caring and reaching out to the less fortunate among their fellowmen, recording artiste, vocalist/musician and producer Benjy Myaz once more strikes the right chord.

Myaz.... it's within my mission statement to help autistic kids in Jamaica, those talented ones

It is amazing! What can be done, in a short amount of time? As many of us are still reelin'... rockin'... spinning like a wheel... from Jazzfest etc. Who said: "It's all in the timing." or is it: "Timing is everything."

Perhaps no other Jazz artist exemplifies the downside of this great axiom than the iconic figure known as Mr. Jelly Lord. Truly a "product of New Orleans."…

Searching for a tour...

It appears to be much harder to get noticed and brought out on the road for a tour but I now figured out that I am just an impatient person when it comes to things like that. I realized that it was less than a year ago that I decided to finally fulfill my dream of playing music everyday and getting a touring gig. Since that time, I have put myself back out in the world and I have played with so many great musicians and the phone is starting to ring off the hook. I am also looking forward to an… Continue

Meeting with James Gavin

I was walking around Columbus Circle at a loss. I was supposed to meet James Gavin, the author of the bulky & detailed biography on Chet Baker, "Deep in a Dream: The Long Night of Chet Baker." I am the translator of the Japanese edition of the book. Meeting with the authr of the book is always a very special experience which I would never miss. I had talked on the phone on the day before and James had given me the address of a coffee shop in his neighborhood, which turned out to be a bit… Continue

Suss's SAGE gleanings

Hi All,

Please do not think by anyone’s acumen that (anyone is) is better than anyone else. I do not think myself more highly than I ought. It’s just that when so many contribute into my life, I MUST reciprocate with Fruit, rather than futility. I desire so many more to reflect, when in your sphere, so many more have taken so much away.

Hence, I wax gross and large!

When Suss is totally immersed, he’s in a zone.

When I’m out of the zone, I’m… Continue

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
