This is a free d/l, you'll see 10 on the page and an archive, so it remains available forever, not "one day." A good kickstart for a brand new CD (and my first one).

It occurs to me frequently that my practice sessions are quite chaotic; I think I may need a music "mentor", someone who has been down this path and knows the direction. Right now I feel directionless.
I worked on scales for about 45 minutes tonight, basicly just the Ionian scale, playing 6 different boxes up and down the neck, in 8ths and triplets. I don't know that there's any value in doing so, but I did it anyway because I lacked better ideas.
I also put down the…Continue

Had a fairly productive guitar lesson yesterday; worked on a couple of Rory Gallagher and Johnny Winter tunes, trying to emphasize the use of diads, particularly 3rd's and 6th's. I'm in the habit right now, when I play single note lines I tend to think horizontally (across the strings) wheras when I play diads I tend to think vertically (along the neck, same string set). This of course makes it difficult to relate one to the other, I'm hoping with enough work I can resolve this…Continue

As I sit here and watch the faces come into this network one by one my heart smiles. I am in awe of what is happening here, the enthusiasm that I sense. The 'vibe' in this place is one that makes you feel connected. Many of you have written me to thank me for starting this Jazz Network. Me personally, I want to thank all of you for jumping on the bandwagon, realizing how cool a place this is for us, to share, meet, laugh, update, learn and most of all keep our friendships alive all around…Continue

So yesterday did not get off to the blazing start I had hoped, but I sitll got a little bit accomplished. I was working with my multi-track (a Tascam 2488) that I sitll haven't really learned how to use; it took me half the night to figure out how to transfer songs to the computer via a USB link (rather than burning a CD as the instructions show).
I recorded a short version of a very simple Mississippi John Hurt tune, "Creole Belle". It's a simple 8 bar blues tune with a very simple…Continue

First, I'd like to thank Jaijai for setting up this wonderful site, it has a lot of potential.
In the spirit of community and music and so forth, I have resolved to keep a web log to document my musical progress. This allows me to start at day one!
So let me describe (for anyone who is interested) a little about what I'd like to accomplish. I'm an amateur blues guitarist. My wish has been to become as good a guitarist as I can without having to…Continue
