The ESSENCE RADIO SHOW - Archive player # 80. Enjoy!

Here is the archive player for show # 80. Things have been crazy here in Berlin. I am actually looking forward to fall. Enjoying the last summer days and focusing on my Le Grand Love project which I will perform in September and on structuring my new companies... and start doing some yoga again. It is time. The last year was a work marathon and I look forward to having more time to relax.

August 27th, 2009 – White Buffalo Day/August 29th, 2009 – Four Years After

From this nation's Capitol! I'm here at the Action Factory – a climate change direct action project of AVAAZ.org – though the actions that will follow are apparently not to be done in the name of such. While the tribes join forces in Congo Square for White Buffalo Day, I and 'dakidz' are headed for the Reflecting… Continue

#jazzlives campaign

A grass roots group of jazz journalists and broadcasters, websites, bloggers, and presenters have launched a #jazzlives campaign on Twitter, using the social networking platform to demonstrate that recent reports of jazz's demise are, in the words of Mark Twain, greatly exaggerated.

According to data from a 2008 survey of audience participation in the arts released by the National Endowment for the Arts and featured in recent articles in the Wall Street Journal and the New York… Continue

“How many of you have never heard of Dakota Staton?”

Staton.wav

I have always heard and repeated – with a long 'A' vowel – the pronunciation of: Staton. Yet, even Mr. Barker is not exactly sure how to state the name of an artist whom he obviously respected; even though she was not of his generation. (It would be like me talking about, Alicia Keyes – but, ten years from… Continue

KENT STATE UNIVERSITY HOSTS THE ONLY MAJOR CELEBRATION OF MJ's B-DAY IN N.E. OHIO

Michael Jackson would have turned 51 years old next week on 8/28. Loved by millions, he was undoubtedly one of the world's greatest entertainers. Michael was not as well known as a great humanitarian. Yet, as we look over his donations over the years we find that he gave more of himself and his fortune than any entertainer, living or dead.

On the 28th-29th of August a celebration of his life will take place in Kent,… Continue

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
