Tommie Talks Music about 12 weeks of interviews & 2 years at number one...........

This show is about me - and my guests of course - over my first 12 weeks as a broadcaster/interviewer and the last two years since I first put my toes in the waters of the internet. I had no experience for either before I plunged in!

Such a lot to learn in both respects; a lot of very hard work and most of all determination and persistence; but always the driving force was the music.

In terms of the…

I originally started out being a member of smoothjazzspace, but for at leat 2 weeks the site has been down. I made alot of great friends and contacts there, posted over 100 photos (some rare).Now...where do I go from there. I am trying to network and get my music to as many as possible,on a tiny budget. So small that the budget has changed to tiny tiny.Part of my dream has been fullfilled already.WSAJ has in the past aired my interview and music. Also my trip to Las Vegas in 2010 allowed me to give… Continue

THE MUSIC FAMILY

This month is exactly two years ago

that I met Gary "Brotherman" Branchaud. Not only one of the most

talented bass players on the planet but also one of the coolest cats on

earth! I have had the honor and the blessing of doing many many shows

with Gary and more importantly, we have had some wonderful times

together as friends. One of the best and many gifts that The Lord so

graciously bestowed upon me when I moved to Nashville is…

Tony Adamo's exuberant jazzy take on Tower of Power's funk classic

Adamo and his producer/guitarist Jerry Stucker take Tower of Power's classic funk number and give it a more sinewy vibe, elasticizing the vocals and the bass, while crackling up the song's more timpanic elements. This exuberantly self-assured remake recalls the Acid Jazz insouciance of the early 90s while harkening back to the Big Band era and the Vegas-y stylings of suave masters of self-confidence such as Tom Jones and Al Jarreau. Adamo has a brash self-assuredness and a sense of…

Gettin' hip to Singer Tony Adamo's "What Is Hip" for Urban Jazz and AC radio

Singer Tony Adamo's "What Is Hip" is a pleasant and refreshing project that reflects back on a legendary time in music history where REAL INSTRUMENTS were played. No Garage Band, Live, Fruity loops here buddy!

On top of that Tony and his Producer Jerry Stucker dared to cover one of the most famous songs to garner appeal from jazz enthusiasts, lovers of funk, and R&B. This is the type of music that SHOULD be on the radio as it was when "Tower Of Power" initially released… Continue

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Barbara Carroll On Piano Jazz

Pianist and singer Barbara Carroll was host Marian McPartland's second guest during the first season of Piano Jazz. Thirty years later, Carroll makes a return appearance to reminisce with her friend about their experiences at the Hickory House and the Oak Room. Carroll gives a charming performance of "Very Early" and McPartland improvises a musical portrait of her guest.

Duke Ellington: Highlights Of His Twilight

The great composer and bandleader was distraught over the 1967 death of Billy Strayhorn, his songwriting and arranging partner of 28 years. But Ellington took Strayhorn's passing as an impetus, born of necessity, to increase his own productivity. Here are five examples.

Chris Potter Quartet On JazzSet

At the Village Vanguard, one flight down from the hubbub of New York City, in a tight space packed with people, we're about to embark on a musical odyssey by sea. Our captain is saxophonist Chris Potter, who's launching his Odyssey-inspired album The Sirens.

Pat Metheny And John Zorn: A Vivid Sound World

The two artists are known opposites in the world of instrumental music. On Metheny's latest, the jazz guitarist wrings an unexpectedly visual listening experience from Zorn's knotty compositions.

Sarah Vaughan: A New Box Set Revels In Glorious Imperfections

Divine: The Jazz Albums, 1954-1958 packs four CDs with Vaughan's music, recorded live or in the studio with bands big and small. Two live albums from Chicago nightclubs are standouts, partly when a performance threatens to slide off the rails.
