Piano Great Billy Hall... R I P

Piano Great... RIP, I will miss you.

William "Billy" Hall, Jr. Jazz pianist touched many before dying of stomach cancer at age 52. He was a caring, deeply religious man who regularly donated thousands of dollars earned in tips from the "Jazz for Jesus" Monday night jam sessions to local charities.

Billy Hall's music career began at age 6 when his father, William Hall, Sr. (deceased) bought him a drum set to occupy his time… Continue

Give Love For Christmas

BLOG

A few weeks ago, I was asked if I had a Christmas song; I didn't but inspiration took

hold when I thought about what this season of giving should really be about - for me

at least.

And so Give Love For Christmas was written over the following weekend and has since

been aired on many radio stations already - and received great reviews from radio

hosts and music journalists - so now is the time to let… Continue

MASKS OF VENICE

Lots of colour, precious stones

Feel their look right in your bones

Feel their deep dark hollow eyes

Are they being cruel or nice

Black or white, they don’t have eyes

Yet we know they gaze upon our lives

Do they show us love or menace

Old and new, the masks of Venice

Is it at me or you that they stare

Can they feel and what they think

Do they worry their town will sink

We’ll never know if they really care

They… Continue

Still waiting... still watching.

Dear Reader, the season of Advent is upon us. Many New Orleanians behold this time of year solemnly. We are blessed with breezy, balmy Sundays; and much more compelled by the power of love in the chill, and A/C hum-less still of the night.

Looking back, I am reminded that it was in this time of year when I returned to my home, after having… Continue

Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.

I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.

My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Let's be audacious, my friends!
