Dr. Goodfoot

Dr. Goodfoot” is one of those tracks that is just as fun to play as it is to listen to. I'm so glad the palpable energy we felt in the studio translated to the finished recording. I knew we were doing something right when I couldn't help but dance while playing this. Partially inspired by Grover Washington Jr.’s “Mister Magic,” this track should be accessible to all those who enjoy a funky groove and an upbeat mood.

So Naturally

"So Naturally" is a song I wrote that is meant to just feel right. The groove, the melody and the production sounds are meant to convey pure bliss. This tune is laid back and very smooth, perfect for a drive up the coast with the top down. Some might hear a nod to the blissful groove of George Benson on his album Breezin'.…

Hulon's "Takin' My Time"

There really isn't a better feeling than letting a groove such as "Takin' My Time" seep in. There's an unmistakable feeling of unity amongst Hulon’s band and a sense Hulon absolutely knows what he’s doing and where he’s going.

"Takin' My Time" -and Hulon as a musician for that matter- shows the importance of musical aspects that can't and will never be replicated by machines. Such a laid back groove with an arrangement that could only be conceived by a group of musicians…

No More Goodbyes

My first album, First Impressions is a dynamic blend of smooth jazz and soulful-funk. The track "No More Goodbyes" is one that stands out to me with its enchanting, smooth melody and relaxing saxophone throughout. The arrangement of the song is captivating, yet the soothing sax lines are quite simple and my aim is to provide the listener with a sense of tranquility. You can stream the track here and download the album in its…

"Always and Forever"

During my experience as a musician, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with many different artists and bands, all of us making beautiful music together. Some of these artists have gone off and done extraordinary things with their musical career, and some have stayed more low-key, keeping a local fan base.

One outstanding artist that I had an opportunity of working with was Geoff McBride. If any of you are fans of ‘The Voice’ then this name should ring a bell. After his…

Why I created a Social Network

I love artists... And Community. And nothing turns me on more than the creative process and witnessing and facilitating Dreams coming to fruition.
I wanted to create a space for community to share their dreams and ideas... A place to plant seeds and share your "voice". How exciting to co-create together.... something greater than we could individually imagine. Something greater than ourselves. Together. Each of us has our own distinct ray of Light, I like to call it, our own…

Aspen bound

Howdy.

I am heading to Aspen, and the Roaring Forks Valley, in Colorado and will be gigging in the region through March of 2012. The scenery is breathtaking and the vibes are highly free-spirited. If you find yourself on the Western slopes of the Rockies this winter, drop me a line. Perhaps we can hook up,

You've got to fight – and party – for your mind.

Dear Reader, yours truly am a man of few words today. Here, out from under T.S. Lee [Allen] all is cool... almost calm, and necessarily collected. Labor Day '11... so far, so wet... and not as wild as one would expect.

Honestly, I feel more threatened by the storms of “Peak-Media-Season '11” than by any force of nature.…

News on the New Album

Hey everyone!

So, my next album is wrapping up and I can’t be more excited. Putting the finishing touches on it feels great, and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it.

Last week I shot some photos for the album’s artwork. It was hot hot HOT out there, but I think the pictures turned out really well. Then I headed to Newark, New Jersey to record my last song for it. Overall, I’d say it has a little bit of something for every body. We took it up a notch!

Now you all…

“Eat the rich!”

Welcome back Dear Reader; and Happy August to you. While I have long maintained that happiness (as in: “the pursuit of...”) is highly overrated, I do sincerely hope that you are now and have been playing it cool... all the way; and I submit this small buffet of thought.

A quarter of a century ago, the phrase, “eat the rich” first entered my consciousness by way of a song which was written and recorded by one of America's truest originals.…

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!
