No More Goodbyes

My first album, First Impressions is a dynamic blend of smooth jazz and soulful-funk. The track "No More Goodbyes" is one that stands out to me with its enchanting, smooth melody and relaxing saxophone throughout. The arrangement of the song is captivating, yet the soothing sax lines are quite simple and my aim is to provide the listener with a sense of tranquility. You can stream the track here and download the album in its…

A Few Words on the Release Party

Just a few words on the "First Impressions" CD release party. It was soo

surreal. It was soo packed that the TV station could not get in!!!!!!!!

It was filled with friends and strangers. It was a really upscale event

just like I had hoped --people stayed for the wine and appetizers.

BASIC got plenty of exposure and I felt like a Hollywood movie star. I

did not stop smiling. I was smiling so hard on every picture you could

not see my eyes. I felt on top of… Continue

Smooth Jazz Therapy

http://smoothjazztherapy.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/03/hulon-first-impressions.html

“...‘So Naturally’ hits a languid stride and stays there whilst both ‘No More Goodbyes’ and ‘Follow Me’ show off the more tender side of Hulon’s persona. Arguably it’s a mood that finds him at his smooth best and this is also the case with the first cut to be… Continue

Charles Langford...That's Wassup!

"That's Wassup" is the debut release from Charles Langford. This imaginative creator displays his knowledge of musical history on his latest release, "That's Wassup". Ruth Hann Dodge - A Story, A Song

In the 1920’s a shy little girl named Ruth Hann

from a small northern town

with harsh winters and hard times,

challenged convention and her stoic upbringing

by picking up a “licorice stick” -

not the penny candy kind of licorice stick,

though it was sweet and good,

like Benny Goodman, whose music

that shy girl fell in love with at first note,

but a clarinet that she bought with pennies

she saved from… Continue

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.

Grady Tate On Piano Jazz

Grady Tate began his jazz career as a much-celebrated drummer, backing such icons as Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Tate has since traded in his skins for a microphone at center stage, where he delivers smooth and soulful baritone vocals. With pianist John di Martino, Tate sings "Everybody Loves My Baby" and "Where Do You Start."

Woody Herman At 100: 'A Blues Player From His Heart'

He was a soulful reedman, an amazing talent scout for decades and a bandleader of one of the country's most popular acts. Born in 1913, Herman led "Thundering Herds" that were both big draws and well-respected by the likes of Igor Stravinsky. Here are five recordings which still sound fresh today.

Edmar Castañeda And Friends On JazzSet

Hear passionate improvisation across borders on Colombian harp, Argentinian bandoneón, Venezuelan cuatro and vibes from the U.S. In a set with Castañeda, his trio and special guests perform at the Americas Society in New York.

Miguel Zenón Quartet: Live At The Village Vanguard

Ever since he started becoming one of the best alto saxophone players in the world, Zenón has drawn from his upbringing in Puerto Rico. But, like many Puerto Ricans, Zenón lives in New York — where his quartet of 10 years has finally been invited to play the Vanguard. It presents new music in concert.
