The death of Michael Jackson comes as a surprise for one reason. My family loves Michael for his talent and artistry. Just a few days before he passed we sat for an hour or so watching his YouTube videos that my son had on his computer. We watched them on a TV hookup. We were so thrilled to watch him go through the paces he created. Not knowing of course, that in a few hours he'd be gone. What a shock. How could this be, we wondered? But, there it is..the King Of Pop...gone. But, as with other great artists, his music and videos, CDs and all live on for us to watch and admire.
My long time pianist and musical partner, Manny Williams, would always say that when you put it out there, it's for posterity. Think about that as you produce your artistic endeavors.
That is what made him what he was. He was not afraid to make it better. To try harder. To work towards perfection, even if at the end you always feel you can do better. That is a true artist and Michael Jackson was all that.
R.I. P., Michael. We love you.
