Jaijai, what a wonderful mission you've undertaken to create such a place for artistic minds to meet and share their hearts. A place to renew faded determinations, and revive lessened momentums. A place to display our wares and reconfirm to one another that we actually are on the right track.
I commend you, Jaijai, for caring so much that you created this castle of the heart for all of us. I want to share my praise for all of the new friends as well as old friends that I've met and will meet here in our castle. Here we can garnish the where-with-all, the strength, the conviction, and the selflessness through our symbiosis, to share our gift to the world with an unbiased agenda.
My mentor, Daisaku Ikeda says of art: "A beautiful flower delights and refreshes the hearts of all people equally, no matter what soil it grows in. That is the power of beauty. The same is true of great art. It is this spirit that the German poet Heinrich Heine sang of when he wrote that once the peapod bursts open, the sugar peas inside are for everyone to enjoy."

Hawaii has a "new" smooth Jazz, though on certain days they play straight ahead jazz, and they, FM101. Try and reach Roy Dackerman, annoncer and sales, he is orignally from New York. He's great!
Hawaii has "lost" several Jazz festivals, The HAwaii International Jazz Festival was owned by our friend, Abe Weinsten, who passed away 4 years ago and the festival folded. Sony was one of the backers.
Hamakua Jazz festival in Kona was fonded by Gene Harris, when he passed, his wife tried to keep it going here, but it closed also 3 years back, Henry was invited to play on that one also, Terry Gibbs, Gene's daughter, Hubert Laws, and many others!
Michael Paulo is having a run of concerts here now also. If you know Michael, he would, be the one to talk to, he is affiliated with FM101.1
He just did his first "Pacific RIm Jazz Festival" in November.
We did a series of small music festivals a few years back, "Jay Leno Horns" Dolphin Day's in KOna, Under the Stars in the island of Lanai, (Josephine Beavers, "Yesterday is Today"), Shorty Rogers and Bud Shank @ Longhi's and many with Gabe Baltazar.
Let's keep in touch, right now there is nothing on Maui, I have my own "HAwaiian Steel Guitar" festival, (Under a non-profit) in April but is is in a Cultural Vein, though I do a Jazz concert on one of the nights. This is a "free event", I cannot charge for it, I am with the state and Tourism Authority.
