I'm still a hermit. Spent 10 years in Europe. Setting up an Asian tour now. I only recently let people know I was in LA. HOW ARE YOU? You must have great things happening. We must find a way to chat privately.

Hey Leslie,

I go wayy back with your music, introducing Leslie Drayton & Fun to then Urban Contemporary radio at V-103/Atlanta and then to formation of "The Quiet Storm" format. You were truly one of the pioneers of contemporary jazz and R&B. Continue to keep it real & Smooth

Hello, Mr. Drayton! I just stopped by to let you know that God has sent me my ANGEL! I am getting married on July 25, 2009. I am also graduating from WLA in June of 09. So, I have a couple of milestones coming my way. Once again, I want to say thank you for introducing me to a new genre of music and a new life. I pray all is well with you and your family.
Be blessed,
Litia Bell (Former West LA Student)

What's up Leslie!! I'm up in the Bay now, needed a change of scenery and pace, studying photography and playing music a bit here and there. This year so far I've gotten my ass kicked live by Ornette, Wayne and Billy Cobham. Hope yr doing beautifully.

I sit here listening to Alicia and thinking how "unfair" it is that I'm all the way across the country without opportunity to listen in person!! Love the precision with which you express your musical emotions! Dena

The Jazz Network is exactly what the title suggests, a place where you get to mix and mingle with those who have not only an appreciation for Jazz but a forum to hear new up and coming artists as well. I've hooked up with so many of my old friends that I've lost contact with over the years here and it's been a great place to meet folk, appreciate good music and Musicianship. What an incredible idea!!

Pat Metheny And John Zorn: A Vivid Sound World

The two artists are known opposites in the world of instrumental music. On Metheny's latest, the jazz guitarist wrings an unexpectedly visual listening experience from Zorn's knotty compositions.

Sarah Vaughan: A New Box Set Revels In Glorious Imperfections

Divine: The Jazz Albums, 1954-1958 packs four CDs with Vaughan's music, recorded live or in the studio with bands big and small. Two live albums from Chicago nightclubs are standouts, partly when a performance threatens to slide off the rails.

Rudresh Mahanthappa On Piano Jazz

Mahanthappa brings an explosive blend of jazz and South Indian classical music to the studio.

Grady Tate On Piano Jazz

Grady Tate began his jazz career as a much-celebrated drummer, backing such icons as Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald, and Quincy Jones. Tate has since traded in his skins for a microphone at center stage, where he delivers smooth and soulful baritone vocals. With pianist John di Martino, Tate sings "Everybody Loves My Baby" and "Where Do You Start."

Woody Herman At 100: 'A Blues Player From His Heart'

He was a soulful reedman, an amazing talent scout for decades and a bandleader of one of the country's most popular acts. Born in 1913, Herman led "Thundering Herds" that were both big draws and well-respected by the likes of Igor Stravinsky. Here are five recordings which still sound fresh today.
